In one of the most famous and emblematic hotels of Astypalaia, the office 2728studio have been asked to undertake its renovation. The renovation will take place in two phases due to the covid period and the operation of the accommodation.
At the requirements of the owners there was a need for redesign of rooms, creation of new suites, new swimming pools, new entrance of the hotel, the entrance and the premises of the restaurant.
The rooms are dominated by soft colors (white, pastel shades, earthy), natural materials (wood, ropes, burlap, fabrics with traditional knitting).
The spaces become integrated giving comfort and a sense of freedom to the visitors. Spaces that can be used all day by all family members without creating functional and technical problems.
A communal pool was removed and the common area was redesigned. Because the old pool was in front of two suites, the space was redesigned and two private pools were created that are a continuation of the rooms, with separate access while maintaining the privacy, uniqueness and unobstructed view that each room offers.
Two new suites were created with a strong element of simplicity, combining traditional island elements in a more modern version combined with bohemian influences and ethnic style.
They have one suite with a private pool inside and the second private pool-hot tub in the courtyard.
The main entrance of the hotel and the restaurant was redesigned since it was not very visible from the passing people. New lighting was installed and natural materials were used and plants were planted to highlight the Greek island architecture.
In the area of the restaurant, the shading of the space was redesigned in the most modern way, since it is a basic part of the restaurant and a catalytic way in its proper operation, since the sun embraces it almost all day long.
In the interiors of the rooms, common areas, handmade items have been selected, ethnic stools, boho rugs, minimal armchairs, built-in constructions, wooden beds, matt sanitary ware, bronze and black wall-mounted batteries, raw wood, raw wood , quartz mosaic, handmade lamps, wicker baskets, throws, woven, retro furniture have been selected to be combined in such a way as to result in a final result that refers to Greek and foreign, island and urban minimal and classic.
