GEOMETRIC SWING VILLA
MYKONOS, GREECE | 2022

A house in Mykonos whose parts emerge, one inside the other maintaining the white coating of the islands, the wood and which is embedded in the wild relief of the desert land of the site, is the proposal of 2728studio.

The house is developed in an area outside the settlement in the northeastern part of the island of Mykonos. The plot is located on a steep slope and overlooks the Aegean Sea and access from a rural road.

The desire of the owners was to create a holiday home "two in one" with sufficient privacy and sea views.
Modern design and dynamic architectural presence are catalysts for homeowners.

The central idea of the design was based on the artificial removal of a part of the slope to place the cave parts and the movement of the building volume forward, giving the feeling of swinging.

Two autonomous sections are created that are connected and constitute as a whole the holiday home.
The two parts of the house consist of living room-dining room, kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms, wc, courtyards and swimming pool. In the basements are stored storage rooms, engine rooms, rainwater collection tank, projection room, gym, spa, shared corridors, stairs and entrance.

In the front ground part of the building, the outdoor - common areas are developed. To the left are the parking lots, the main entrance which is not conceivable because it is covered by wooden blinds and leads to the upper sections, the outdoor living room and the outdoor dining area. Everything is placed under the floating pool that was integrated with the frame of the building and at first glance the visitor does not understand its existence, except when he notices the part that has a glass floor, creating reflections with the colors of water and the sun and working as a natural shade.
The interiors are designed with the aim of creating a pleasant atmosphere of living, modern furniture, mechanical automation and handmade lighting frame the holiday home.

The masonry of the building is made of reinforced concrete. On the inside, the concrete is visible, giving a modern and minimal character. In the left part, a white coating is applied to the exterior masonry. In the right part, the masonry and the roof are covered with natural brown wood.

Pressed marble mortar has been applied to the interior floors, large wooden frames have been installed and furniture with glossy surfaces has been selected.
