PIROFANI RESTAURANT

The office 2728studio managed the complete renovation of the restaurant 'PIROFANI' on the beach of Pantelis, in Leros. Radical interventions were carried out in the interiors to make the transition to an austere luxury and to escape the classicism that characterized the existing situation. In the outdoor spaces, the interventions were milder due to the location of the store but also due to restrictions that exist because the location is classified as a Traditional settlement.The goal of our design team was to pay special attention to luxury, not to change the store's identity and to present all of this in a modern way that will impress customers.
The kitchen area and the inner hall were redesigned, where auxiliary uses and table seats are developed. A built-in sofa was built into the only free wall in the store and the tables were placed around it. An auxiliary space for the staff was created and placed between the hall and the kitchen. In this space, handmade braided ropes were placed that hang like curtains forming a wavy shape. With this choice we wanted to create an imaginary partition that would have visual contact but at the same time would also create a form of coverage.
On the existing wooden pergola-ceiling, natural material was placed crosswise in two layers, creating a modern pattern reminiscent of a 'baklava' shape.
The shades chosen for the tables, chairs, frames and various constructions were earthy pastels creating a warm and at the same time strict austere luxurious aesthetic effect.
On the outside, the old pergolas were replaced and the store front was redesigned. The building front was painted white and the frames in a shade of beige-brown creating a contrast highlighting the details of the building.
A particular difficulty due to the orientation of the building and the location was the shading of the courtyard part as well as the protection from the summer elements. Handmade large-sized rope umbrellas covering both parameters were selected. A braided and curved rope was placed between the umbrellas and the building.
Lighting was emphasized both in the exterior and interior spaces. Inside, hanging handmade lamps and spotlights were placed above each table. In the external part, lamps were placed on the front of the store with narrow beams. In the area of the table seats, handmade lamps with straw hats were placed under the umbrellas and around them, creating a romantic atmosphere. The sign was redesigned and illuminated with hidden lighting and integrated into the facade of the building.
