MOD VILLA

On an idyllic piece of land with the sea, in the area of Katakrotiri in Leros, a holiday home was designed for a couple from France, with respect to the local architecture and with modern elements imposed by the time we live.
The design was based on the location of the plot, the landscape, the view and the modern design.
The house is developed on two levels and a large part of it is a ditch. The upper level is dominated by a rectangular building volume, where it is conceived by cutouts extending out of it, separating the various uses of the house. At this level, the entrance, the living room, the dining room, the kitchen, the fireplace, the master bedroom with its bath and the private pool, a shared wc, which are framed by the outdoor swimming pool and the courtyard, are located.
In the rectangular building volume, large openings with energy crystals have been placed, letting the sunlight penetrate the interior of the house and join the open with the enclosed spaces. Outside the openings sliding blinds are installed as sunshades protecting from heat in the summer and helping to warm up in the winter.

In order to penetrate the natural light inside the house, two atriums have been created that have been planted inside them.
At the lower level, there are 3 bedrooms, two bathrooms, a hammam, a gym, a movie theater, engine rooms and storage areas.
On the back of the ground floor are placed crystals of rectangular shape leaving the light to be channeled to the lower spaces.
Also, for a better protection against humidity, a corridor has been created that has been closed with glass and pebbled, creating a distance from the excavations of the building.
All walls are made of reinforced concrete that selectively some surfaces have been colored white.
The roof of the first level of reinforced concrete was planted, constituting a natural extension of the natural soil acting as insulation throughout the year.
Access to the road is done by a staircase of obvious reinforced concrete.
The perimeter walls of the house from an apparently reinforced planking that stretches out of its limits, playing the role of the windshield protecting the days it blows.
On the front of the house the wall that extends the courtyard and the swimming pool was tilted by prominent reinforced concrete.
In the pool was chosen to place glass on the front side to give the impression that the water reaches and poured into the ground.
Inside, handmade items have been selected, furniture from French designers in minimal lines, ethnic furniture, minimal armchairs, prominent reinforced concrete, cement mortar, hand-made luminaires, castings, stone walls, metal pergolas, wooden blinds. a harmonious result.

And the way of construction composes a result that makes the residence functional and particularly aesthetic, fulfilling the requirements of the owners.
