KROTIRI HOTEL
LEROS, GREECE | 2023
The study is being developed on a sloping plot with a southeast orientation and concerns the creation of a new modern and standard four-star hotel unit.
The main aim is the harmonization with the landscape and the relief, the relation of the building volumes with the nature and the human scale and the value of the view to the sea.
At the top of the complex is the main building, which houses functions such as reception, lobby, breakfast area, communal uses, main pool and water canal.
The rear side of the building from where the entrance is made is a solid white volume, while the front side is a combination of stone and white volumes. Wooden pergolas are developed on both sides to protect from the strong summer sun. The rooms are developed in levels to have all views. The property has ground floor rooms ΄ Cave ΄ and upstairs rooms. Two ground floor ‘cave’ suites with a private pool are also being developed.
The central idea in the design of the facades was clean-simple lines. White building volumes in combination with stone walls create the semi-outdoor space of each room and wooden shades, offering privacy, protection from the sun and the summer air.
The basic materials used are wood, stone, mosaic, natural materials, wicker items, throws, woven, pastel fabrics, wooden furniture, glass and plaster in earth tones, are a reference to the traditional Greek architecture, which is presented with a new fresh and plastic form praising the past and honoring the future.
