DIANA CLUB
LEROS, GREECE | 2020
Diana club is a new nightlife club in the Pandeli area of Leros.
It is an important place that operated as a disco from 1978 until the beginning of 2000, where it is stopped its function.
The building was changed by owners who intended to relaunch the legendary of Diana Club.

The place has been redesigned internally and radical changes have been made to the existing baseline.
The design agenda had two aspects: functional / conceptual and aesthetic.

The design remodeling was based on the creation of a modern space while retaining some elements of the past that would awaken memories.

The desire of the owners was the central idea to be based on the name of Diana (Artemis) who was the goddess of hunting in ancient Greece.

For the best functionality of the club, three levels were created and all areas were redesigned (entrance, bar, dj booth, dance floor, sofas, stand space, communal spaces, utility spaces and emphasis on public spaces.

At the entrance of Disco was a white furniture with a steep slope, mirrors and a glass window with hidden lighting.
In the central hall of the club on the left side was placed the bar. The use of white matte wood with a black stone coating creates a contrasting contrast.
Behind the bar were natural climbing plants covering the walls, and a water-flowing waterfall was built behind the liquor store creating a play of colors, shadows. The combination of planting and water creates a feeling of relaxation and being in nature.
In front of and opposite the bar was a steep slope passageway that deliberately separates the bar area with the dance floor.

A futuristic construction was placed in the center of the shop. Build a tree that hugs the central pillar and make one with it. Its design was done with special software and principles of parametric design were applied. The first part of the structure has a slight incline that hugs the column and then curved sections are developed that extend up to the roof of the shop. It consists of 12 different pieces.

The dj booth is placed on the right side of the main hall and it's over 70cm from the dance floor. Situated opposite the bar and surrounded by levels and sofas.

Surrounded by dj booth, levels were built that rise from 20cm to 80cm and can accommodate upright and seated customers. Above them were built couches and lined with velvet fabric of intense shade, contrasting with the rest of the shop whose dominant color is anthracite-black.

New sound installation and professional lighting were installed on the roof.
Vertical elongated mirrors were installed in various parts of the perimeter walls. In the back of the shop, the original painting depicting the goddess Artemis, painted in 1979, was pre-existing in the shop and has historical and emotional value for the shop's customers.
To the left of the central lobby were communal activities and ancillary areas.
The space for communal toilets, corridors and emergency exits has been redesigned.
In the common hallway was a photo collage reminiscent of a gallery and depicting shopkeepers having fun at a young age. The purpose of the collage was to make a connection to the past with the present and to awaken memories.

Finally, the exterior of the building was kept free of interference because it was the wish of the owners.
The shop's signboard was redesigned, the walls painted white.
The lighting on the facade of the building was made using light fixtures that produce a narrow beam of warm lighting, arches were placed on the floor and lamps were used to produce asymmetrical beams to the floor at the entrance and stairs.
